Casa Housing In Jeopardy

Staff at Casa Esperanza needs to recognize our Stonehenge housing is in jeopardy. Like raising the rent the County, who owns our housing facility is clearing our entire household of 15 clients; all have to leave by November. Something about this should identify as fishy. I am writing because I’m skeptical. This is classic housing discrimination!

The current mental health provider that has the contract with the county, Telecare started it. They are leaving Casa Esperanza for some reason. They say “they don’t.” How they get to that point is known. The administrative staff at Telecare Corp. is not cashing the rent checks. The ones they are cashing are from the month before. My account has an outstanding check every month. Does that sound like a reason to stop as the landlord? The Clients all have a high balance on record. The balance is supposed to be less than $2000.00. The rent is $1444.07 per month. This the Telecare Corp has wrong. So, they must say they don’t. At the very least this is a problem for clients like myself; I have to fix my account to stay under the limit. I bet that many clients are in trouble with a high balance.

I am trying to explain the problem. The County owns the building. They are just fixing the Telecare issue as to why Telecare doesn’t.

How am I supposed to get along after November when the County has me leave my home.

Rumi Poem

What’s That?

I started out on this road, call it
love or emptiness.

I only know what’s not here:
resentment seeds, back-scratching
greed, worrying about out-comes,
fear of people.

When a bird gets free, it
doesn’t return for the remnant
left on the bottom of the cage!

I’m close by; rain. Far off, a cloud of fire.

I seem restless, but I am deeply at ease.
Branches tremble; the roots are still.

I am a universe in a handful of dirt,
whole when totally demolished.

Talk about choices?

While intelligence considers options,
I am somewhere lost in the wind.

Critique of Kant

I thought that Kant’s Categorical Imperative explains what has been going on with me. Especially since Leila passed away in 2018. I was her associated person. I think that made me susceptible to Kant’s Philosophy.

Now I have a problem because it doesn’t account for the person that’s a “no” from the get go. So, I looked into Kant’s critics.

Paul Guyer

In The Cambridge Companion to Schopenhauer (1999), the philosopher Paul Guyer wrote an article titled “Schopenhauer, Kant, and the Methods of Philosophy.” It was suggested that I try to get the person’s consent.

Napa Valley Vintage 1994

Ready to drink: https://www.wine-searcher.com/vintage-1994-california

The 1994 Napa Valley vintage has reached its twilight peak. It is fully ready to drink—vibrant, complex, and holding onto its last lines of structural energy. I invite you to open a bottle now while it still carries its story so clearly. Let’s share a glass at the absolute finish line of a legendary California year.

Hope

The 2024 Pauli Murray quarter, part of the American Women Quarters Program, features the inscription “HOPE A SONG IN A WEARY THROAT”. Released in March 2024, the coin honors the civil rights icon, poet, and priest, with her eyeglasses-framed face depicted within the word “HOPE”

The phrase comes from her poem Dark Testament, where she writes, “Hope is a song in a weary throat.” This same phrase was used as the title for her autobiography, Song in a Weary Throat: Memoir of an American Pilgrimage. The coin has her name: The Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray

White Wine With Legs

The Lost Legs of Napa: A Technical Remedy for White Wine

The evolution of the Napa Valley wine scene is often told through the lens of its legendary Cabernet Sauvignons, but a significant shift occurred when Sutter Home’s White Zinfandel exploded in popularity. This movement fundamentally altered how winemakers approached white grapes. In the rush to meet market demand for crisp, pale, and accessible wines, the industry adopted a practice typically reserved for mass production: minimizing or completely forgoing the time grapes spend soaking in their own pulp after the initial crush. This shift prioritized speed and clarity over the structural complexity that once defined high-end white viticulture.

As a result of this popular practice, many modern white wines have “unlearned” a classic characteristic known as “legs.” Often referred to as tears or cathedral windows, these streaks of liquid form and slide down the inside of a glass after the wine is swirled. While many consumers believe legs are merely a sign of alcohol content, they are actually a byproduct of the Gibbs-Marangoni effect—a complex interaction of surface tension and evaporation. In the world of fine wine, these legs represent a density and viscosity that indicate a wine’s body and its potential for a lingering, sophisticated mouthfeel.

The remedy for winemakers seeking to restore this lost quality is found in the “soak.” To achieve white wine with true legs, the juice must remain in contact with the pulp right after the crush, much like the traditional process for red grapes. This skin contact allows for the extraction of phenolics and glycerol-like compounds that provide the necessary “grip” and surface tension. By reintroducing this maceration period, winemakers can move beyond the thin profiles popularized by the White Zinfandel era and return to a style of white wine that possesses both structural integrity and a visual signature in the glass.

Restoring this technique is more than just a nod to tradition; it is a commitment to the technical excellence of the craft. When we allow white grapes the time to soak in their own essence, we produce a final product that is richer, more resilient, and visually captivating. It is time for the industry to remember what was unlearned and ensure that our white wines once again possess the “cathedral windows” that signal a truly high-quality vintage.

Leviathan: A Disabled Person

I have to draw the line AI has made. From earlier Blog posts, I have identified a bad book from 2018. My plan is to give the bad book to a handicapped person. This is my Rational Survival Strategy. The bad book is a threat.

I have concluded Thomas Hobbes’ “ruler” has to be a disabled person. That narrows the span of possible rulers. If I name a disabled person, what about disability is protecting me? A question that needs an answer as I give up my rights to the “One.” Are they protecting me from getting killed?

The conclusion in Philosophy is to make the Hobbesian “ruler” out of a person with a disability. I want that person to learn about me from the bad book?

Leviathan is a disabled person!
