Kresge Narrative

The amount of money that was paid to off Elwood was $48,000. This amount is the needed information to satisfy Kresge.

Here is the story from 1958.

Grandpa Elwood Polsen, “I have to go to the hospital.”
He was shot by Frances Beeks.
J. Paul Getty Jr. Constructed a contract for the hit: the amount was, “Kresge.”
He is survived by his son Mark Doolin.

If you want to fixate on this narrative, watch the Titanic movie from 1997; see google search results for Titanic.

Kresge Post Made Private

Kresge is outdated by two generations; my mom’s father Elwood. I believe that the University would like to build a new college in its place. There are writings on Gevluef about Kresge. It isn’t enough though. A search for Elwood might have enough about Kresge. I’m going to write about this topic further. I recently donated and they said they need a hundred. Because it is about my family on my mother’s side I feel obligated to take care of it. I wish that my family had more insight about Kresge. I think I’m the only one that thinks stuff about it.

I am trying to keep my Blog posts appropriate. In 1988-1989 I wanted to write a form letter to my family. It would have turned out to be a newsletter. Decades later, now that we have the internet, I can write on a Blog.  I enjoy writing. Maybe you’ve gotten one of my emails. I never would have thought I would be a writer.

Comment: August 28th, 2024; Thank you for everything Kresge. In recent posts I show that the Getty though they ruined my painting might be ready to be forgiven. Anyway to make this change it will take years. Right now, Kresge has a tall order.

Fingernail Biting

Several months ago I stopped biting my nails. I have to keep them short so I don’t bit them. It’s not like quitting Cigarettes where you don’t have anymore cravings. I have to stop myself from relapsing all the time. I have been stopped now for a while and it feels like there is something more happening; forever and a day. I looked on the internet for information about it. Following are some results on Onychophagia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nail_biting

Onychophagia is the clinical name for fingernail biting. It is a common stress-related or nervous habit in children and adults. It involves biting off the nail plate, and sometimes the soft tissues of the nail bed and the cuticle as well.

Multiple factors play a role in the development of nail biting, ranging from genetic components to underlying psychiatric conditions. Nail biting can be a tough habit to break. People do it for many reasons, like stress and boredom. Sometimes, though, it can be related to a deeper issue like anxiety or obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

Onychophagia is classified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition (DSM-5) under the “Other Specified Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders” subcategory. The DSM-5 further characterizes onychophagia as a recurrent BFRB disorder.

I am pretty sure I am not going to bit my nails anymore. So, now I can talk about it.

Hobbes and Locke

Below is the text I wrote in Facebook. I don’t have enough readers there and I need to show in Gevluef what is going on with me. I think something negative about Thomas Hobbes. I wrote:

Thomas Hobbes’s Philosophy, mostly political, has a social contract theory: He introduced a social contract theory based on the relation between the absolute sovereign and the civil society. (RT)

I’m reading his book: Leviathan. Some of his critics argue with him over the “Squaring of the Circle.”

His “sovereign” is preceded by a great work of some kind. The unfolding drama is a “Story”

Thomas Hobbes is still a service. Thomas Hobbes’s great trilogy; Three Something: De Corpore (1655; “Concerning Body”), De Homine (1658; “Concerning Man”), De Cive (1642; “Concerning the Citizen”)

An older post about Thomas Hobbes: https://gevluef.com/2009/02/20/thomas-hobbes/

The accepted philosophy for his time is John Locke. He wrote An Essay Concerning Human Understanding. Locke wrote so much there that I need help with it. For example I think John Locke is writing for Pi in this text: https://enlightenment.supersaturated.com/johnlocke/BOOKIIIChapterIII.html See paragraph 6: How general words are made. …How come we, by general terms?

John Locke’s An Essay Concerning Human Understanding is the best choice for Philosophy from this time. Of the two philosophers John Locke would make a better choice of study.

Google for Pi – Highlights

https://bit.ly/4c7cFd5
What is the formula for calculating pi? The pi is a ratio and is obtained from a circle. If the diameter and the circumference of a circle are known, the value of pi will be as π = Circumference/ Diameter.

https://bit.ly/4c10fTS
The miraculous fact about Pi is that no matter the size of the circle, the value does not change, making Pi a mathematical constant. Adding to its allure, Pi is also an irrational number which means that its decimal representation has no end and no repeating pattern.

https://bit.ly/3yTHC5T
Pi shows that knowing, wholly, is an impossibility. The more we know, the more apparent it is that there is much more to know. For each individual, and for humanity as a whole, there is always that added bit that simply can’t be figured out, no matter how much information or education we possess.

Gravity’s Rainbow

I got the book cover picture from The Thomas Pynchon web site: https://thomaspynchon.com/

In the News:

The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California, has acquired Pynchon’s literary archive.

Although I am expected to get Gravity’s Rainbow, I am getting Vineland; July 4th 2024. It is the plan for the Napa Valley Wine Vintage for 2024.
